What we collect

To use Kalama, we collect your email address and your zip code or town. That's it for account setup. We don't require GPS location, and we don't track your precise location — general area (zip code or town) is all we need to show you what's happening nearby.

If you subscribe to Kalama's paid features, our payment processor collects the payment information needed to process your subscription. We don't store your full card details ourselves.

If you use Kalama's voice or chat features to plan an outing, we process what you say or type in order to generate recommendations and build your itinerary.

If you post an event through Kalama, we collect the event details you provide — event name, date, time, location, and image.

How we use it

We use your email and zip/town to show you events, places, and plans worth your time in your area, and to manage your account and subscription. We use what you tap, save, and search to shape your personalized feed and recommendations. We use your email to send you account-related communications, and, if you've opted in, updates about new features or cities.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Location

Kalama works off your zip code or town, not precise GPS coordinates. We don't track or store your real-time location, and we don't show your location to other users. There is no "friends location" or location-sharing feature in Kalama.

Your control over your data

You're in control of what you share. You can:

Ask us to delete your account and the data tied to it

Data sharing with service providers

We work with a small number of trusted service providers to run Kalama — for example, to process payments, host our app infrastructure, and power the AI features that generate recommendations and itineraries. These providers only receive the information necessary to perform their specific function and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

Children's privacy

Kalama is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you're a parent using Kalama to find activities for your kids, the account and data belong to you, not your child. If we learn we've inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we'll delete it.

Data retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Saved itineraries and plans may be automatically removed some time after the associated event date has passed. If you delete your account, we delete the associated personal data, except where we're required to retain certain records for legal or financial purposes (for example, payment records).

Cookies (website)

The Kalama website may use basic cookies or similar technology to understand site traffic and improve the experience. This is separate from the app's data practices described above.

Changes to this policy

If we make a meaningful change to this policy, we'll update the date at the top and let you know in the app.
